CM Yogi takes swift action against divisive Panchayati Raj directive, suspends officer
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has strongly reacted to a controversial order issued by the Panchayati Raj Department. The order had directed officials to remove encroachments from Gram Sabha lands specifically by people from the Yadav caste and Muslim community. The Chief Minister termed the order as “completely discriminatory and unacceptable” and ordered its immediate cancellation. He also suspended the official responsible for the order.
Action taken after controversial directive issued
The controversial order was issued by SN Singh, Joint Director of the Panchayati Raj Department. The order stated that in over 57,000 village panchayats, encroachments on Gram Sabha land should be cleared specifically if the people involved belonged to a particular caste or religion—namely, Yadavs and Muslims.
This triggered widespread criticism as the order appeared to target only certain communities, rather than addressing the problem of encroachments in a fair and equal manner.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took note of the issue quickly. He expressed strong displeasure over the wording and intention of the order. Calling it discriminatory, the CM directed that the order be withdrawn immediately and suspended SN Singh from his position.
The Chief Minister said that this kind of language and approach was unacceptable and went against the principles of his government. He described it as a serious mistake and a lapse in administration. Adityanath made it clear that such directives are harmful to social harmony and will not be tolerated.

Government policies to be free of bias, says CM
CM Yogi emphasized that government actions, especially those related to land, law, and administration, must be fair and not influenced by caste or religion. He warned officials that similar mistakes in the future would lead to strict action.
He also said that removing illegal encroachments should be done based only on legal facts and not on the caste or religion of those involved. Every action should follow the law and maintain neutrality.
The Chief Minister further clarified that his government stands for equal rights and social justice for all. “The government’s policies must be free from any kind of prejudice or bias. Our commitment is to the Constitution and to justice,” he added.
According to Yogi Adityanath, decisions or policies based on community or caste divisions are not acceptable under any condition. He assured the public that his government will continue working to promote unity, peace, and fairness in society.
He reiterated that officials should be careful while issuing any orders or directions. The language and approach used must reflect the values of inclusiveness and impartial governance. Any deviation from this path would be treated seriously.
The suspension of the Panchayati Raj official and the cancellation of the order have sent a strong message from the Uttar Pradesh government. CM Yogi Adityanath’s swift action highlights the state’s stance against biased administrative practices and shows the commitment to equal treatment for all communities. By condemning the caste- and religion-based directive, the Chief Minister has made it clear that such divisive orders have no place in governance.
The incident also serves as a reminder to all government officials that fairness, neutrality, and respect for constitutional values must guide their every action. The message from the top is loud and clear—discrimination, whether in words or actions, will not be tolerated.
